When I snowshoed to this old mining ruin in the San Juans, I was disappointed at the time not to capture a good photo, due to harsh lighting on a somewhat overcast winter day. But later, sitting at my easel, that same lighting became a bonus for my painting! I "beautified" the glare and strengthened the shadows to enhance the wintry feel of an abandoned structure.
